There has been a change in the interpretation of the law regarding the requirement for accelerated instruction for students in fifth or eighth grade who have not passed after three opportunities of either the math or reading TAKS. School districts must provide this instruction to all students who meet this criterion. ESC Region XIII in conjunction with member districts, has developed a set of pilot resources to assist in meeting the new requirement.
